I love it when American artistes go on Japanese programmes. Firstly, I DO understand the English, so I'm not lost for the entire programme, and secondly, I have to admit that it's mildly amusing to see how the Japanese hosts will attempt a few phrases of English! But this week's "Cartoon KAT-TUN" wasn't too bad, since white-hot popular R&B singer Ne-Yo made a guest appearance only at the second half, thereby minimising any cringe-worthy awkward interaction. It was way better than the last time with Avril Lavigne - that was really painful (Junno: "We are Japanese idols!")

Kame started the ball rolling. He went up in this shy manner and asked ever-so-cautiously, "How old are you?"
Not bad, well given how very short the question was, but the words were all pronounced carefully.
They should have let Jin do the interpretation! But I know, I shouldn't have too high expectations of his (supposed) 6-month US study stint. Still he managed to surprise me with accurate pronounciation!

Hhahaahah, Jin was clutching his chest after only 2 pathetic questions! He is so easily nervous! I'm actually kind of suspecting he took some time to memorise the questions, but because he is Jin, I choose to believe his English has really improved ya!!
It's so cute to see those 6 noisy boys being quietened down when Ne-Yo sang "So Sick". And gosh, can he really sing! Black R&B singers do have clear therupatic voices (R Kelly, Brian McKnight). They are like little kids paying attention!
And when Ne-Yo was done, those boys were way too happy and excited! Yes, learn from him and improve your singing skills then!
Present time! Hhahhaha it's cute to see how they are actually like little boys who are just as eager to receive gifts!
Can't resist putting this one last screencap! AHHHHH! Jin was so engrossed and enjoying Ne-Yo's singing, did he realise his loving, tender, soft, gentle look could just leave fangirls swooning????
It was an overdose of Kame for me today. My maid has been sent home and I'm her unofficial successor, so I thought I'll read the papers during breakfast and start the day on a leisure note before I tackle the mountain of chores. I saw this instead:
This May-December rumour has been going on for so long, probably from end of last year if I'm not wrong, so why is it surfacing again? In fact, I had even thought Kame may have moved on to someone else instead, but this proved me wrong. Admittedly I had a good breakfast time, because I was gloating glad that at least there were no stories on Jin!
Since my maid's no longer with us, I had to take over the duty of meeting my pampered little sis so that I could bring her tuition bag for her to go for her lesson straight after sch, while she handed to me her (jumbo) schoolbag and files and files back home. Did I mention that I was also instructed to pack bread and a packet of Milo from home just in case she didn't have her lunch in sch??? Ok, I digress.... so my point is, I went to buy New Paper on my way home, and sigh:
Why is it him again?? On the same topic even, so his news is really covered thoroughly in both languages. What I didn't like about the English version was how Jin was implicated!
It wrote that the couple's public appearance was partly due to how Kame wasn't pleased with all the attention that has been on Akanishi ever since he got back to KAT-TUN in April! I absolutely hate it when Jin is always singled out as the source of all the group's troubles. Firstly, the group is not in so much dis-harmony as what everyone perceives, so why must tabloids always take delight in finding trouble? Secondly, Jin has been obviously keeping a pretty low profile ever since his return (not as many relationship rumours or paparazzi photos), so how is he trying to grab any attention? Even on Cartoon KT or the recent MS performances, he doesn't talk much, so is he trying to steal any limelight at all?? To brand a person just because you have always thought of him that way, and to brand him in that manner forever, that is plain unjustified and unfair.
P.S. Ermm, I think I blogged more on Jin than Kame after all, despite the intention of my post! Gomen for my ranting!
Part 2:
The entertaining part of the performance was when the curtains were dropped to reveal hundreds of high-pitched screaming fangirls rushing to the stage! The "aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh" lasted throughout the entire song, to the extent that it got disturbing at some point when u can't hear Ueda, or Jin. Koki was unexpectedly the clearest, since he was basically shouting all his parts.
It was supposed to be a fascinating scene to watch how closely the girls were surrounding them. But frankly after a while of screaming, I had hoped they would just clap and jump along to the song rather than try their darndest to out-scream a fellow fangirl!
It was difficult to capture Jin's blink-and-you'll-miss-it slight frown as he was making his way to his individual platform in the audience. As much as he enjoys attention, he probably didn't like how he was being 'physically harrassed' by all the girls.
He made it! Phew, got on the platform safely! See how Jin was looking out of the corner of his eye? After watching a few times, I realised it was to check if his fellow group member managed to get through the crowd safely! He was being so nice and concerned for.......
Kame! Who was obviously in a more sticky situation than Jin hahahah!! The girls were practically trying to grab and touch Kame! He had such difficulty escaping from their reach that it really got amusing to watch.
Oh well, at least we can see that Junno really enjoyed his performance. Look at his adorkable and happy grin!
Ueda was a picture of calm, and even his section of fans were keeping their hands under control. Less chaos, more enjoyment.
I woke up early and decided to start the day off with this:
Hahahah screencapping! Given the absence of a decent scanner at home, I hardly have any chance to scan the japanese magazines I've bought. Capturing these image stills is the best that I can do to make up for that! Plus, I realise I have this serious lack of vocabulary, I mean, how many times have I used "hot" to describe those Johnnys boys?? That word has been seriously over-used! So having these screencaps can just save me the pain of tearing my hair, because you can see for yourself how, errmm, hot the guys are!
I really haven't been paying much attention to Kame, (well IF he interacted more with Jin, that won't be the problem!) so it was only when I read from other blogs that I found out that he changed the colour of his hair?
Jin, u listened to my advice!! I was so so happy that he had his nice hair put down naturally this time around! Add that with his white-hot suit and killer smile - deadly combination!
Junno was adorably good-looking with a stylish and nicely-blown hairstyle! Just as what we've always suspected, his height and looks do make him a qualified korean superstar! He was super hyper yesterday night, as usual =)
Alright, although I don't like him, I still made the effort to make a good screenshot of him! Yakuza Tanaka is here because, and only because, he is the 'T' in KAT-TUN.
He was jumping way too much yesterday, kind of distracting behind Kame. And with his new blond hair (?), I've newly nicknamed him "Bleached Ball".
Ueda! That hair! Those glasses! That look and action in front of the camera! You are NOT allowed to get any prettier...!!
Nakamaru was quite poor thing during the song. I could see him pressing his ear piece several times, probably because he couldn't hear anything in the midst of all the high-pitched screaming of the fans? His hair seemed a little different, and his looks is really growing on me!
Alright I'm done with the basic comments for each member! Need to replenish my energy with breakfast, then I'll be back with more!
The KAT-TUN boys wore white suits for their medley performance on Music Station tonight! Akanishi is the definition of hotness in white n black scarf n flowing locks! And Taguchi hahah, his hairstyle was goooood too, like any tall n charming korean guy! I thought Kame looked quite ordinary this time, and Ueda wore a pair of glasses again. Nakamaru's looks is growing on me, I like him more each time I see him. As for the redundant last member, well my only comment is, Koki dyed his hair.
Anyway, I was quite disappointed they sang "Yorokobi no Uta" rather than "Your Side". I think they chose the former because it's a fast song and more suited for the atmosphere, because for tonight, they allowed fangirls to surround the small circular stage! Basically you just hear endless high-pitched screaming throughout the song (lucky boys, no one could really notice if they were singing off-tune or not?)
The fascinating part was when the members walked down to go into the crowd! I mean, don't they realise they may be groped to death?? In fact at one point, Kame looked like it was impossible for him to get up on his individual platform to continue the song! The girls were clamouring for him!! Hhahah, it's actually quite amusing to see how they were trying to look cool n yet twisting their bodies so that their sensitive parts won't get ermm, molested in the frenzy!
I'm still tired now as I sit in front of the computer typing - had to go Chinatown area yesterday to pay for my airtickets, then to the moneychanger, then meeting sweet karened to get my jap mags (definitely the highlight of my outing!) then popping to Taka to choose a Father's Day gift, then meeting my friends at Plaza Singapura for dinner, then walking to Cathay Cineleisure for dessert. Just all these in one night were enough to drain my energy. Conclusion: I'm no longer fit and vibrant.
But, it's always good to start the weekend with eye-candy (albeit a bias one!):

KAT-TUN's performances on Music Station are usually er.... dark I suppose. Yesterday's "Yorokobi no Uta", and when they debuted with "Real Face". Maybe I've been looking for the group's tv appearances for too long, somehow I was rather disppointed that yesterday didn't have a huge impact on me...
To Kame: Can you look at Jin more often?? I miss Akame love, and please do away with the random black-painted fingernails soon, either colour all or none of the fingers, having miscellaneous ones just don't turn me on. They nearly took away my attention from ur singing and dancing (which were not bad as usual).
To Jin: I don't like your hair! Since you refused to cut it still, at least let it down? It reminded me of a haggled housewife half tied-up! And the furry mass hanging beside you, plus that cape-like cloth just makes you look heavy and bulky! Having said that, I know it's not your fault at all - someone should fire your wardrobe stylist!!
To Junno: Very hyper ne~ U are learning to have that cool look, and though I love you more when you are grinning like a dork, I'm as happy with your dance throughout the song!
To Koki: Will keep this short lest I spew things I regret later - since this is the theme song for your drama, I will only approve this ONE time that you are allowed to sit between Kame & Jin, geddit?? And that big red cap?? Huge mistake.
To Ueda: How can any boy turn out to be so pretty? U are smiling so much recently compared to your black-haired days (I hope it's because Jin is back!) Gotta ask Becs to watch you here, your smile and soft brown hair is a deadly combination!
To Nakamaru: Just so underrated! Sometimes, I wish the cameras will focus a little (just a teeny little) less on Jin and more on Maru (Becs, I'm being v objective!) You just don't hav enough parts in this song to shine, but I'll still support you cos you are really the backbone of the whole group!
I'm getting old, just 2 hours in town today and I feel dead beat! I must start building up my stamina for the Japan trip. Esp since I will have a fanatically genki fangirl as my travelling partner -_-"

Ahh!!! I'm so so happy, you should have just seen me smiling at every page just BECAUSE i'm holding mags with FULL KAT-TUN on the covers! I'm actually regretting not getting the Wink Up copy... if I'm still itching to buy another mag in the next few days, I will have to make a trip to Kino to get Wink Up too.
But in any case, I'm way too tired now really, so I hope the pictures here will bring me to a wonderful fantasy land once my head touches my pillows later..........zzzzzzzzz........

Found an old poster in my file, I think it's worth taking a picture of it while it's still intact!
This is one of my personal favourites - when KAT-TUN was still so... fresh-looking? That was how I came to like them - before all the news on Akame conflicts, vicious rumours about Jin, and reports of their declining popularity. Gokusen 2 came alive with the combination of stubborn Hayato and sacrificial Ryu. KAT-TUN lighted the stage because of serious Kame, baka Akanishi, sunshine Taguchi, straight-talking Koki, mysterious Ueda and goofy Nakamaru. They need to be together. They have to be together!
